A portrait of Gilan
The province of Gilan is located in the north of Iran. It lies south of the Alborz mountain, along the Caspian Sea. The centre of the region is the city of Rasht. I born, raised and lived there for 25 years. I always had a strong tie to Gilan, to all its forests, mountains, lagoons and the beauty of its nature. The photos on this album are part of my observations from ten years ago since i started photography.

I never had any plan for capturing these until the last couple of month when I felt I'm far from there and I'm losing my connection to a place that I have been in love all my life. These photos are the reflection of Gilan, its nature and people on me, my thoughts and my teenager life.

I crave all the memories I had there, and the imagination of me walking in the impressive forests of Gilan or staring on the waves of a Caspian sea under the cloudy sky through me back to all those beautiful days. For me, the meaning of Gilan is equal to Home, and I miss there as much as I miss my mom, dad and sister, It's part of me and always will be.
